NVR and DVR Video Recorders
What is the difference between an NVR and a DVR? A network video recorder (NVR) records video information from IP cameras which transmit the information over a blue network cable. These cameras connect to an NVR through a network switch or in some cases directly to the NVR itself. Digital video recorders (DVRs) are an older technology and are used to record analog or coax based camera video data. A DVR records cameras that are connected via a coax cable.
